Congratulations!

Katie Johnson – Menace Brewing

Katie Johnson is officially Bellingham’s Best Beertender for 2017! It was a tough battle but Katie took the top spot after a round of nominations and 3 rounds of votes! Congratulations to Katie! We encourage everyone to congratulate Katie at Menace Brewing sometime soon and we’ll be delivering the coveted Bellingham’s Best Beertender trophy to her soon!

Based on the nomination feedback we received, it’s easy to see why Katie is the best.

“Katie is easily one of the most knowledgeable beertenders in town; she can talk hops/malts/yeasts on a level most non-brewers cannot. She is also one of the kindest folk out there never getting bristled by children, dogs, or newbies in her taproom. Big high fives to Katie! She’s the best in the land!”

“She is such a light of sunshine with a beautiful smile (and great hair). She’s so welcoming and very knowledgeable about beer! Overall she’s the best!!”

Congratulations to all the contenders!!

What qualifies someone to be Bellingham’s Best Beertender? We like to think it’s a perfect combination of personality, aptitude, and charm and there is no shortage of people in Bellingham who fit this outline perfectly.  So, how can we possibly decide?  We don’t.  You do.

We’d like to thank all of the contenders for this year’s Best Beertender Award and we hope you visit them often. There’s a reason they’re part of this contest and there is no way you could ever know why unless you interact with them personally.  Go Get a Beer!

Honorable Mentions

We had a ton of nominations and while the folks below didn’t quite hit the top 8, people really like them a lot!  Make sure you visit them to see why they’re so great for yourself.

Charlie Burns – The Up & Up
“Charlie’s been a staple of the Up & Up for years, and his knowledge of beer shines there. Regardless of the beers on tap, if you tell Charlie a couple beers you like, he’ll be able to find something on tap that hits the mark, expands your palate, and opens your eyes to a brewery or beer you may not have known previously.”

Brian Bates – Stones Throw Brewery
“He’s always friendly, makes you feel at home, calm and inviting”

Dane Whitehead – Boundary Bay Brewery
“The beer doesn’t stop, and neither does he. A true pillar in the Bellingham community, he greets all with a welcoming smile and a warm heart.”

Hope Collins – Wander Brewing
“She is the sweetest and always positive and friendly! If I’ve had a crappy day, Hope and a Farmhouse Saison never fail to lift my spirits.”

Hugh Newmark – Best Buds
“Great with people and glorious hair.”

Johnny – Structures Brewing
“He knows a lot about beer and the product they have. Good at making suggestions for people. Very personable. Very good bartender “
