The 2017 Great American Beer Festival came to a close yesterday with the award ceremony on Saturday. For all those fanatics that watched it on live stream or followed online, you already know what’s coming. For those that didn’t Bellingham represented well at this year’s event.

Chuckanut Brewery pulled in two (2) golds at this year’s event. Kolsch German style Ale and a Gold for Chuckanut Dunkel Lager. Chuckanut Kolsch has won Gold medals, but also a Silver GABF 2012 and a World Beer Cup Silver in 2012. Chuckanut Brewery’s Dunkel has won not only multiple Gold GABF medals but also Silver GABF 2009 and 2012, Bronze GABF 2015, Gold World Beer Cup 2010 and Silver World Beer Cup 2014.

Wander Brewing came home with a Gold medal for it’s Correspondent Foreign Extra Stout. Correspondent has a history of medals, including a Gold Medal at the 2017 Washington Beer Awards, a Silver Medal at the 2016 Washington Beer Awards and a Silver Medal at the 2014 Washington Beer Awards.

Melvin Brewing Company continued it’s strong movement forward by winning Brewery Group and Brewmaster of the Year. This couples their companys recent distribution push into California and New York. They also won Gold for the Hubert MPA in the American-Style Strong Pale Ale category and Gold in the Wet Hop category for their Wet Hop Melvin. While neither beer is brewed here in Bellingham (they’re all brewed at their Alpine, Wyoming location), Melvin is gearing up to start brewing here in Bellingham very soon!

All in all, Washington State came home with 10 medals out of a total of 296 total medals. Seattle came home with 4 medals. Total medal count and categories are here.
