Strawberries being added to Boundary’s Oktoberfest Lager

We would like to note that there has been no response by Melvin Brewing about our article regarding speculation they are moving to Bellingham.

Is silence indicative that it is happening and Melvin is trying to keep it under wraps, only to have it thwarted by our crack team of sleuths)…or that they just don’t care because it’s so far off from the truth?

……….*crickets*……..

We’ll await official word from Melvin, but our research this past week only pushes the Rumor Meter closer to “True.” What have you heard around town?

Pint Points

  • Boundary Bay Brewery is in the middle of a pretty awesome aging process for their Oktoberfest Lager. A few days ago they added local rhubarb and raspberries strawberries to the barrels.
  • Boundary and Wander won medals at last weekend’s World Beer Cup. Wander for their Barrel Aged Wild Warehouse (2015 Gold Medal GABF!) and Boundary for their 2014 Old Bounder.
  • A handful of Bellingham breweries attended the Craft Beer Conference that was held in conjunction with the World Beer Cup in Philadelphia.
  • The Local built a brand new front to their fine taphouse on Railroad. The new open window format is great for this upcoming summer days. Watch a video of The Local’s new store front!
  • Rumors have it that Gruff is near to opening. Sources say they MIGHT be open in the next few months. June?
  • April Brews Day pulled in a record $125,000 at their event on April 30th. What great organization and cause!

6.3% ABV // 70 IBU // 1.060 OG

medium body + white grapefruit notes + unfiltered

This IPA is a big citrus bomb of white grapefruit with hints of meyer lemon zest. It’s made with only the choicest of continental pilsner and wheat malts and pungent hops from Yakima Valley; an East meets West show down of ingredients and styles. The bitterness lasts, but at a pleasant, well-balanced level.

Hops: Azacca, El Dorado, Mosaic
Malt: Continental Pilsner, Wheat
