Scotland’s BrewDog is well known for not only its crazy powerful beers, expanding business, but also its unique business practices. BrewDog has announced that any employees that adopt a dog will officially receive one week of paid vacation when they bring a new dog into the household. This is a fitting perk for a brewery that says they were founded by two guys and one dog. They call the benefit Puppy Paternity Leave.

BrewDog USA's Canal Winchester brewery will include a bar and restaurant called DogTap Columbus.

BrewDog employs over 1,000 people across the globe and, just today, opened its first brewery in the United States in Canal Winchester, Ohio. The 300 seat brewery and taproom followed a long process of R&D to find which US location was a best fit. Ohio won out.

BrewDog says they are the first in the industry to offer this type of benefit to employees.

This brand new pooch-based perk will be available to all BrewDog crewmembers across the globe, including those joining our ship Stateside as part of BrewDog Columbus. We’re not aware of any other American company giving a week’s leave to their staff to help build the bond between them and their dog – but then few other companies have four-legged friends at their centre as we do.

Alongside this, we are also proud to be a Living Wage employer and offer sabbaticals for our crew as well as sharing 10% of the annual profits of our company between everyone who made it happen. Plus we embrace beer knowledge with the highest number of Cicerone-trained staff of any company in the world – and we also offer enhanced maternity and paternity pay for two-legged arrivals!
