Well, most of you have known for a while, but it’s not official until the press release. Chuckanut Brewery, has officially opened it’s second brewing facility in Skagit County. We reported on this back in November of 2015 when they had just broken ground.
The new brewery is open at 11937 Higgins Airport Way, Burlington
The brewery is near Skagit’s famous “Brewing Zone” that includes the Flyers Brewing Company, WSU Bread Lab, Skagit Valley Malting, Skagit Valley College Brewing Academy and the rumored location of the new location from the former Jester King owners.
The brewery is a 20bbl system with capacity to brew 13,000bbl at full capacity. The system sits in the 8,000sqft building and gives the world famous brewery room for more bottling. The current brewery in Bellingham, is a 10bbl system. South Nut is an all ages establishment, so bring the family. Mari Kemper also asked me to tell you all that South Nut will be serviced by a number of food trucks, that we’ve now added to our comprehensive Food Truck Calendar.
Chuckanut Brewery is pleased to announce it has opened its South Nut Tap Room at 11937 Higgins Airport Way, Burlington at the Port of Skagit. The lively tap room welcomes all ages and is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 3-7 pm and Friday, Saturday and Sunday 12-7 pm. Beer and other beverages are available along with pretzels and peanuts. Chuckanut welcomes guest to enjoy food from visiting food trucks, local restaurants or a picnic from home.
Chuckanut Brewery’s first establishment is the brewery and restaurant in Bellingham at 601 W Holly St will continue to serve fresh local American cuisine along with the world class Chuckanut beers. The new location’s lively, colorful Tap Room allows visitors viewing into the brewhouse from a large windowed wall. Beer by the taster glass, schooner, pint and liter is available on site and growler fills, kegs, and bottled beer is available to go. The beer garden outside is a great sunny spot to sit and enjoy one of WA state’s most celebrated craft beer. Visiting food trucks include Vagabond Southern Food on Wednesdays 3-7 pm, Pizzaza pizza Fridays 3-7 pm (noon-7 starting October 21), Rock n Rollin Eats Gourmet Hot Dogs Saturdays 12-7 pm. More food trucks will be visiting in the future.
Currently beer will be shuttled to the Burlington facility from Bellingham until production begins at the Skagit facility sometime in October or November. The Bellingham facility will continue to brew specialty beers once South Nut is on line. The Skagit brewhouse is a 20 bbl system as opposed to a 10 bbl in Bellingham making South Nut the big production brewery that will brew the more popular Chuckanut beer styles.
Chuckanut Brewery & Kitchen (North Nut), located at 601 West Holly St in Bellingham, was awarded the National Small Brewpub of the Year 2009 and Small Brewing Company 2011 at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, CO. The full service “Kitchen” serves lunch, happy hour, and dinner with an eclectic fresh local menu for all ages.
