The 32nd Annual Craft Beer Conference and BrewExpo wrapped up last week in Portland. The basic takeaways are that the craft beer industry is booming. Over 3,200 breweries, but the following statistics from Craft Brewing Business take an even deeper and more telling look at the current craft beer boom. One of those being that there are 2,052 breweries in planning. Assuming only half of those come to fruition, we’ll surpass the all time mark of over 4,000 craft breweries by the beginning of 2016.

  • 1,871 microbreweries (33% growth; 3.17M bbls).
  • 1,412 brewpubs (20% growth in bbls; 1.17M bbls).
  • 135 regional breweries (17% growth; 17.6M bbls).
  • 3,418 TOTAL breweries.

  • 615 openings in 2014.
  • 46 closings.
  • 2,052 breweries in planning.

  • Craft beer exports up 36%.
  • 383,422 bbls.
