If you love the craft beer movement as much as us, then you certainly must know Sabine Weyermann and Thomas Kraus-Weyermann.   You may not know them by name, and you may not have known that you just walked past them on the street in Bellingham yesterday, but you definitely know their product.  One that most likely helped craft your last pint, and the hundreds you had before that pint.

Reliable companion to the Craft Brewer scene

With great pioneering spirit, Sabine Weyermann and Thomas Kraus-Weyermann attended their first brewer trade fair in the USA in 1996. At that time, they immediately recognized the Craft Brewing trend. From then on, Weyermann® Specialty Malts has more and more often been the „Soul of the Beer“ in the artisan brewed beers of creative brewmasters, who enjoy trying out new beer recipes. To this day, it is Weyermann® Specialty Malts of superior quality coupled with the personal, friendly and trusting support of the customers according to the best Weyermann® corporate philosophy for Craft Brewers worldwide that guarantees its success. Not least, this beer revolution has been made possible only through a great innovation on the part of Weyermann® Specialty Malts: the deliberate packing of Weyermann® malts into 25kg bags.
This year, Weyermann® Specialty Malts has also introduced a brand new, highly practical tool for all brewers, the Weyermann® Aroma Wheel. Here the flavors of the different Weyermann® malts are visually and objectively presented comparably and thus facilitate the deliberate and creative use of Weyermann® Specialty Malts according to individual specifications. Quality, variety, reliability, mindfulness, innovation and creativity – these are precisely the points that every customer in over 135 countries of the world can expect from Weyermann® Specialty Malts.

Sabine and Thomas are the current principals of the Weyermann® Specialty Malts in Bamberg, Germany.  The company has been around for over 135 years and without them, the craft beer industry wouldn’t be where it is today.  Yes, they are beer royalty.

They’re in town visiting all of our amazing breweries with Mari Kemper from Chuckanut Brewing and we were lucky enough to run into them last night at Kulshan Brewery.  We didn’t ask many questions and we didn’t grab a photo, but the mere fact that they’re in town to see how Bellingham is morphing into a world class beer city is pretty great.
